Earlier this year, Honor launched its flagship Honor 6 Plus alongside the affordable Honor 4X. The latter is priced at Rs 10,499, and is exclusively available on Flipkart. Besides the big display, and battery, the Honor 4X has an impressive set of cameras, which can give its competition a run for their money. To check how good the cameras on the Honor 4X is, we pit it against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note and the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The Honor 4X features a 13-megapixel autofocus camera at the back with LED flash, second-generation BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and 27mm wide angle lens. It comes with features like Panorama, HDR, audio note, Best photo, all focus and watermark. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel camera for selfie lovers, along with 720p video recording capabilities.

Under bright sunlight, the Galaxy S5 unsurprisingly comes out on top by capturing the most amounts of details and colors. It is closely followed by Honor 4X, which too manages to capture a lot of details, and color reproduction is good as well. The photos captured using the Honor 4X are really good for its segment, if not best. Despite, the bright sunlight, the camera on the Honor 4X’s closest competitor doesn’t capture a lot of details, and lacks sharpness. The results are similar on close up shots as well.

When indoors under ambient lighting, photos captured with the Honor 4X and Galaxy S5 cameras again have the most amount of details. Surprisingly, color reproduction on the Honor 4X is a tad better than on the Galaxy S5. While the Redmi Note manages to capture a lot of details as well, again it lacks the sharpness and the punch when compared to the other two smartphones.

In low light conditions, the three cameras have to deal with a bit of noise and loss in details. The Galaxy S5 again trumps the two in terms of the sheer amount of detail it manages to capture. Color reproduction too is quite impressive. While the photos clicked using the Honor 4X and the Redmi Note have a bit of noise, the results are quite impressive nonetheless, especially when you consider their price segment.

As for selfie lovers, the 5-megapixel snapper on the Honor 4X is more than satisfactory. The small window on the top-right corner tells you where to look while clicking a photo, while the beauty mode softens your features to make you look better. As for quality, it is on par with the Xiaomi Redmi Note, and is quite close to the quality of the Galaxy S5.

The cameras on the Honor 4X then are quite impressive and one of the best we have seen in this price segment. It is much better than its closest rival, the Xiaomi Redmi Note, while some of the photos it manages to click are comparable to the much-expensive Galaxy S5 as well.
