Not so long back, the best specifications and features were reserved for the flagships or smartphones that would surely burn a hole in one’s pockets. Flagships from the likes of Samsung, HTC, LG or Sony would boast the best specifications or features money could buy, but only a few could afford them. Now however times have changed and Chinese companies like OnePlus, Xiaomi to name a few, have changed the game by coming up with smartphones that boast high-end specs, but are priced less than half of these flagships. Also included in this group is Honor, which too has launched smartphones in India with features comparable to flagships, but at the same time won’t burn a hole in one’s pockets.

To get a better idea of this scenario, let’s take a look at some flagship smartphones that are priced north of the Rs 40,000 mark. These include the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S6, Motorola Moto Turbo, HTC One M9+, and the LG G4 to name a few. A list of specifications follows.

While the list of specifications and features are tempting, it is the last row that will act as a deterrent for many. As mentioned above however, the likes of Honor, OnePlus and Xiaomi among others have introduced what are also called as ‘flagship killers’. These smartphones essentially boast specifications and features that can compete to an extent with the flagships, but are priced way lower. A comparison table follows.

While these smartphones may not be able to compete spec-by-spec with the flagships, they do include features that can put them on the same plain as their more expensive rivals. The likes of the Honor 6 Plus also comes with features that are unique and not something you would find on the aforementioned smartphones.

This includes the bionic parallel dual-lens 8-megapixel camera at the back. The camera offers the fastest focus — within 0.1 seconds — and depth recording for panoramic imaging. With Vision Camera technology and the help of its dual camera lens, the amount of light-in and the photosensitive area is twice the light-in captured by single-lens; this gives clearer and precise results under low-light giving it a HDR effect. Moreover, the Honor 6 Plus also offers an 8-megapixel front camera with Sony BSI sensor. It is equipped with 10-level auto face enhancement and ‘Panoramic Selfie’.

The smartphone also features a massive 3,600mAh battery with power saving technology 2.5. This makes the battery 30 percent more efficient, and fully-charged, it will last over 2.81 days for ordinary users, whereas heavy users will be able to use it for over 1.25 days.

Huawei’s “Smart Power” battery-saving patented technology includes background power-consuming process reminder, situational awareness, unified heartbeat technology, and dynamic power control technology among others. Under super power-saving mode, the battery will last for more than 24 hours on 10 percent charge.

Honor launched the 6 Plus earlier this year, priced at Rs 26,499 and it is available on Flipkart. The company also launched the Honor 4X alongside, priced at Rs 10,499. Recently, the company also launched the Honor 4C, priced at Rs 8,999.
